Okay.. So. I may get laid off this summer. Which sucks. I hope I can have a 2nd job and get by but.. Things may get rough and I don’t want to just flat out ask for money so… I’m going earn it by doing something I love. Making art. After watching the Mr. Rogers documentary this past summer I put on one of the episodes of his show and watched the whole thing. It was sort of mind numbing a lot of the time, but there were some really cute moments. Of course, it’s for really little kids who can’t digest much. But when he came to the end of the episode, he sang a song called ‘it’s you I like.’ The gist of the song was that no matter what you did, or tried, or whatever effort you put out for yourself, that you were worth liking just because you were you.
And I cried my goddamn eyes out. No other piece of media has ever given me a message that was so powerful, so meaningful to me. It’s one of those things that makes me tear up whenever I hear it. It was something that put forth the 'you’re perfect just the way you are’ message more than anything else ever has for me. And he was so sincere about it too. Never was there a man in media who was so kind and understanding as he was.
